I have ahd a lot of free time this week at work. I have been thinking that it would be fun to finally do a home brew world.

I bought Wilderlands of High Fantasy thinking it would be a great base. But it is kind of bland. It is almost a huge list of encounters, rather than a world/nation view.

But after thumbing thru the Eberron Campaign book (nothing on TV) I realized that the continent is huge with plenty of room for my own stuff.
Plus it already has many of the things I want - rival nations/kings, a cool mostly unxeplored continent, noble houses.
AND I have every freekin Eberron book.

So I am going to stick with Ebberon.

So after this before the next season of Sqwonberrron - after Star Wars - I am planning on making some minor tweaks

1. Deleting the continent of Argonessen.
2. Detailing the continent of Salorna - no psionic Quari things.
3. Allowing non- house dragonmarks.
4. Tweaking the current gods ( adding to there qualities/domains)
and adding 3 more.
The Goddess of Luck and the Goddess of Misfortune (twin sisters)
cliche - but I like it.
God of Death (neutral) - cuz I think it is needed.

[/list]

Faiths of Eberron is due out next month; maybe that'll help you flesh out your deities, as well.

That was part of my epiphany. With the gods being more than 1 paragraph - they should be more interesting.

Since we play with "feat every level" I was thinking of severely limiting prestige classes allowed.

I would think that you could create the character you need with the feats and maybe multi-classing. Plus I am allowing almost every Wotc base class plus variants.

Player comments?

limiting prestige classes is fine, i don't think too many characters had or were even going for prestige classes. Except Bron who was a master inquisitve, but he's dead.

Deleting the 2 continents is fine, i never really cared for psionics anyway, and Argonnessen is basicly another unexplored continent.

I am not deleting Salona - I am drastically changing it.

So...I guess that the all Psionic Gnome Bard campaign isn't going to work, then. Damn. Back to the drawing board.

Prestiage Classes should be rare and pretigious. Unfortunately, in 3.x they are neither. Wink

There are some things Prestige Classes do that a few feats can not. For example, a prestige class can turn you into another type of creature over a long period of time--dragon (Dragon Disciple), fey (Wildrunner), outsider (Alienist), etc. The gradual transformation is cool (and a fantasy staple, to boot).

I guess I would not mind at all if you severly limit / strongly discourage them and require DM approval for any PrC. Just in case that perfect PrC really floats my boat and I feel I have to take it, it's nice to know it's a possibility. But unless it's truly rare and prestigious, I probably will never want to take levels in one.*

Unless I can play a Fighter / Wizard / Spellsword / Eldritch Knight. That's just cool. Laughing Cool

*Of course, now that I've said that, I'll probably stumble on the coolest, most presitgious, not overpowerd, perfect for my character PrC right before we return to Sqwonkberron next year! Laughing
