Depending on what the new guy wants to play, I'll either play a fighter or a skill-type.
For the fighter I'm thinking a straight-up, tough guy dwarf. Adamantine waraxe and armor, high Con, hard to kill. Able to go toe-to-toe with baddies.
For the skilly I'm still knocking ideas around. I want to play a archer type. Possibilities:
1) My first choice-Scout 10, unfortunately Scouts don't get Disable Device or Open Locks. They do get Search and Trapfinding, so they can locate the traps, they just can't do anything about it. I'm hoping Sqwonk might let me take a feat that makes DD and OL class skills.
2)Rogue 2/Ftr 4/Dread Commando 4-This would only work if Sqwonk allows the PrC. This one would be more combat oriented, with nearly a full BAB (+9 at lvl 10). His roguey skills might suffer a little bit, but not too much. Plus, initiative bonuses for everyone within 30'!!
3)Rogue 10-not very excited by this one right now |

FYI - Scouts get Disable Device per the Complete Adventurer erratta. No Open Locks, though. _________________ • The Dark Between the Stars • a Chill of Cthulhu campaign |

Another idea for tough guy fighter would be an Adamantine Body Warforged with Improved Damage Reduction a few times. DR 5/adamantine sounds pretty sexy to me.
Of course then we'd have another slow as molasses fighter like Paul's samurai. |

Don't play option 3 if you're not excited about it.
Option 2 sounds interesting. _________________ "My farts smell like oil." - KidVerisimilitude, deep-immersive role played warforged

New character concepts. Sqwonk convinced me to play 2 pcs.
-Shrike. Warforged Fighter 5/Wfgd Juggernaut 5. Eleventy billion HP, high DR, tons of immunities, and a big ol' greataxe. Good for bustin' down doors and bull rushing chumps.
-Shrike's buddy, a human artificer. I'm not sure if I want to go straight artificer, or take the 3 level Cannith Wand Adept PrC. CWA makes him nastier with wands right away, but he loses artificer levels and infusions. Not taking the PrC would probably make him better as a support character, with not as much combat juice. Either way, he can be the item creator for the party, and with the Dedicated Wright Homunculus, he can have stuff being created even while the party is out on adventures. He can also Search/Disable Device/ and Open Locks just as good as a rogue. No sneak attack, though.
So do we need more magic combat juice? We already have the duskblade and a new wizard (right?) |

I'm making a wizard, so I think we're ok for "combat juice." And I'll cover the cleric, too. I think we're set. _________________ "My farts smell like oil." - KidVerisimilitude, deep-immersive role played warforged

Current thinking:
Shrike-Still supertough warforged, but now I gave him the Mageslayer feats from Complete Arcane. Spikes and longspear. He likes to impale things, just like his namesake. Highly superstitious, he hangs little charms and fetishes from his armor spikes.
Ideas for 2nd character:
1) Fighter 10- Tight rapier-focus, uses a gnome battle-cloak instead of a shield (from Races of Stone). During the War he protected Citadel agents working in Zilargo. He learned a lot from the gnomes and stil holds them in high regard. He's built to be a much more effective fighter than Nikolai was.
2) Paladin 5/Sacred Exorcist of the Silver Flame 5- After all the help the party gave to the Church of the Silver Flame, they owe some favors. Plus they've heard about some prophecy, something to do with demons...devils, whatever. This guy is one of their demon/devil fighters. He's essentially a paladin (full BAB throughout) with the ability to "turn" evil outsiders, and some nifty abilities that make his weapon silver, good, lawful, etc. Oh yeah, he gets Detect Thoughts at will. I'd probably take some of the Divine feats that let you spend turning attempts to get abilities.
I guess the choice is whether we need the combat skills of a straight fighter or some more divine power from a paladin. I know Sqwonk keeps pushing the paladin angle, but maybe he's just trying to scare us. |

OK, I have no idea exactly what I'm making, but here are the stats I rolled in case I lose the paper...
PC#1
11, 5, 17, 10, 15, 15
15, 13, 11, 10, 13, 15
6, 13, 14, 15, 13, 16
PC#2
16, 14, 13, 15, 11, 13
11, 11, 12, 16, 15, 11
16, 12, 12, 16, 15, 11
One will be a cleric. I guess I should check out the Faiths of Eberron book. Which church hates the Silver Flame the most?!
The other will be a wizard. I might go specialist. And I should probably check out the Magic of Eberron book.
Hmm. Eberron characters that are more "Eberron-y." What am I thinking? _________________ "My farts smell like oil." - KidVerisimilitude, deep-immersive role played warforged

| Barendd, my second character could be the face man for the group if you want to concentrate on more cleric-y stuff. He's going to be an alternate rogue (fighter feats instead of sneak attack) with some of the Complete Scoundrel luck feats. He could be a good face man. |

| Actually, I think I'm going to go with Beguiler. It let's me do pretty much the same stuff. I trade some BAB, Evasion, and Uncanny Dodge for some useful spellcasting. |

Is this correct?
Bealzubobo
Duskblade - only returning character
Archer guy
Barendd
Mage
Cleric
Knid
Warforged fighter
Beguiler*
* This character concept may change a dozen times before Sqwonkberron Season 5 begins. _________________ "Your ideas intrigue me. I would like to subscribe to your newsletter." - Homer Simpson |
